We would all love to feel the best we have ever been and assume we are fulfilling our self-care and self-love daily needs. If you are anything like me, you have to juggle each and every day, always in a rush to get somewhere or get something completed.
At the end of most days, you are extremely exhausted and may have an overwhelming feeling that you haven’t accomplished all the things you set out to do that day. Let’s discuss a self-care journey for a better you.
Self-care is crucial for YOU! You must take care of yourself! It is a necessity, and you deserve it! I have a firm belief that in order to be able to take care of your family, be an awesome partner, be a great employee, an amazing friend and maneuver through all our responsibilities in our daily lives, we have to be the best of ourselves that we can.
That means making ourselves the top priority first and foremost.
What is Self-Care?
Self-care is all about the practice of managing how you can provide better maintenance for your own mindset and well-being. Self-care is personal and all about YOU. You are the only one that can decide what is best for your self-care plan.
Self-care is not selfish, it is actually imperative that you learn some self-care techniques so that you’re the best of yourself for the people you love the most! I’d like to share my self-care maintenance plan and activities that help improve my well-being and mindset.
Taking Care of Your Skin as part of a Self-Care Journey for a Better You!
You may think that you do not have time to take care of your skin or to implement a daily skin care routine into your busy life. Your skin care routine shouldn’t be complicated. There are many skin care routines on the market but some of them include many steps and products that just take a lot of time you don’t really have available.
Morning Routine
My morning skin care routine only takes three (3) minutes, it’s as easy as 1-2-3 and three (3) simple steps:
- A nourishing cleanser that leaves your skin soft,
- A moisturizer that provides all day hydration,
- A lightweight face oil that hydrates and leaves your skin feeling radiant.
Night Routine
My night skin-care routine takes 3-5 minutes with only (4) steps:
- The same nourishing cleanser as the morning routine to removes makeup, dirt and pollutants from your day,
- An eye treatment for fine lines and wrinkles,
- A serum that is very concentrated to work while you sleep
- A night cream to seal in all the goodness.
Exfoliate
To enhance your skin-care routine, exfoliation is a step towards healthier looking skin.
- Using a resurfacing peel consistently a few times a week brightens your face. The product I currently use is only applied for three (3) minutes.
- A sugar scrub used all over your body can help remove dead skin cells from your skins surface and feels like a spa, just at home.
Facial Massaging Tool
Enhance your skin-care routine with a Gua Sha Facial Massaging Tool. A Gua Sha is so soothing and calming and has so many benefits for your self-care routine, some of the benefits are:
- Relieves tension,
- Smooths fascia,
- Improves production of collagen,
- Lifts facial muscles,
- Brightens complexion.
Taking care of your skin is so important for you and your self-care. It’s a step in the right direction for an improved version of you. If you are glowing on the outside, you will start to feel the same way on the inside.

“Me Time” Activities to improve a Self-Care Journey for a Better You!
As I’ve mentioned, you need to take care of YOU first and foremost in order to be the best of yourself so that you can be your optimum self for everyone and everything in your daily life activities. It is imperative to maintain your self-care and have “me time”.
Never underestimate the power of self-care, as it’s definitely not selfish. I’d like to share some “me time” activities that I thoroughly enjoy!
Yoga
If you are anything like me, I’m sure you can use an hour or two (2) to yourself once or twice a week. Do you enjoy yoga? I find certain disciplines very relaxing and essential for self-care.
I’m not talking fast paced classes but classes that are so good for your mind, body and soul! I find these very relaxing and essential for my self-care. I have three favorite classes I love to attend:
- Rest and Restore – a meditation-based class that slows you down after a busy day,
- Yin – is a meditative, slow, still practice where poses are held for long periods of time,
- Nidra – a relaxation-based practice that settles your mind and restful awareness. (Most times I fall asleep!)
Gal Pal Time is a must for a Self-Care Journey for a Better You!
Friends are so paramount in our lives. I expect we all have girlfriends that we have had since childhood, met through one of our children’s activities, at a social gathering, from our place of employment and many more places. There are some gal pals that have become our true confidant whom we trust with our deepest secrets, insecurities, and feelings. When our schedules allow us, we can appreciate time with friends such as:
- Lunch date
- Coffee date
- Wine night
- Walks
- Girl trip
Time spent with friends is refreshing, rejuvenating and 100% a must to maintain a good life balance.
Self-Love is part of a Self-Care Journey for a Better You!
It is essential to love yourself first and be present in the moment just for you. A few minutes a day may be all you can grab some days but try and pace yourself accordingly. Here are a few ideas:
- Have a Bath
- Reading
- Journaling, especially about gratitude

- Eat your favorite food
- Spend time with your pets and hug them
- Candles
- Manicure &/or Pedicure

Wearing any kind of makeup shouldn’t have to be bold or complicated. You can achieve a natural, pretty look with clean, safe, better-for-you products. For me, long gone are the days of confusing products. Simplicity, along with ease, in choosing makeup products is the answer for me.
Blendable Eye Palettes
You could choose a blendable eye shadow palette that will blend smoothly from one color to the next, lightest to darkest. Don’t you prefer your colors made simple so that they complement each other?

One or two coats of Mascara and a Lip Gloss can give you the conviction to portray yourself and exude tons of spirit to start your day.
Luscious Lip Gloss
A collagen lip gloss to plump your lips in a subtle color is a great daytime choice and a richer color for evening or combine both for an in between shade. A formula with just the right amount of sheen, comfortable to wear and stays put is so on point.
A creamy, dreamy, non-goopy lip gloss that provides hydration and ingredients for healing dry, chapped lips is a bonus.
Nourishing Lip Treatments
Speaking of dry, chapped lips, our lips don’t have oil glands so you should use a product that will nourish and protect your lips. Locking in the moisture on your lips is important as your lips can then absorb moisture.
A lip balm doesn’t help. All it does is create a barrier that prevents your lips from absorbing moisture. Taking care of our lips helps protect them from premature aging.
Gone are the days of caking on foundation and makeup, aren’t they? A tinted moisturizer (with sunscreen) and minimal makeup is all you need to be the best version of you. For your personal self-care, a natural, glowing effect works perfect for your confidence and show everyone you’re ready to take on your daily tasks.
